Is this Japanese knotweed ? (5 replies)
Yes that certainly looks like Japanese Knotweed, local Councils ask the public to report this so maybe you should contact them, maybe they haven't noticed it yet.
I have noticed it every year that I have lived here and every autumn they cut it down, I heard somewhere that local Councils leave it alone as trying to get rid of it causes it to spread, but I will have a word with someone to be sure.

Hi carolb
another alternative is..... eat it! I must admit I haven't tried it myself but that's because I haven't seen any recently...If you have a try, let us know how you get on? lol

Old Gardeners never die, they just throw in the trowel
Um not sure I want to eat it Gardening Graham, it is on a path frequented by dog walkers and regularly peed on by the dogs, but thanks for the suggestion 🙂

Update on the Japanese knot weed, it looks like the local council must be treating it with some kind of weed killer as it seems to be turning brown.

I pass this clump of plant most mornings on my walks with my dog and I often stop and look at it and wonder if it could be Japanese knot weed, it is in the local Council run park so surely they would do something about it if it was ?
