Umbrella Bamboo 'Asian Wonder' (No replies)

Good morning,
I want to grow the Umbrella Bamboo Asian Wonder up against the fence and restrict the roots from spreading. The advice on the blurb of the plant to do this is 'surround the roots with a barrier to restrict the plant’s spread'. Im a novice gardener. What do i use to restrict the plants spread, what do i use as a barrier? Simple language please, im new to this.
