Is it possible to grow Roscoea in containers or do they need to be in the ground ?

Hi Hemeroholic,They would probably be happier in the ground, with the tubers planted at 10-15 cm depth, in a shaded position. Roscoeas tend to resent full sun.Cultivation in pots should not be a problem provided you give them some shade and some frost protection in winter. The tubers will be more sensitive in containers than in the ground, and will not be able to send new forming tubers downwards as they do when planted outside. So if you really want to leave them in pots, choose extra deep ones 🙂
