It sounds like your runner beans may be suffering from a fungal disease called powdery mildew. This is a common problem that affects many types of plants, including beans.

Powdery mildew is a fungal disease that thrives in warm, humid conditions. It appears as a powdery white or gray coating on the leaves, stems, and flowers of plants. As the disease progresses, the affected leaves may turn yellow and eventually die.

To treat powdery mildew on your runner beans, there are several steps you can take:

  1. Remove affected leaves: If only a few leaves are affected, you can simply remove them from the plant to prevent the disease from spreading. Be sure to dispose of the leaves in the trash rather than composting them.

  2. Improve air circulation: Powdery mildew thrives in warm, humid conditions, so improving air circulation around your plants can help to reduce the risk of infection. You can do this by pruning back nearby plants or installing a fan to improve air flow.

  3. Water properly: Overwatering can create the warm, humid conditions that powdery mildew thrives in. Be sure to water your plants deeply and less frequently, rather than giving them shallow, frequent waterings.

  4. Apply fungicides: If the above steps are not enough to control the disease, you may need to apply a fungicide. Look for a fungicide that is labeled for use on beans and follow the instructions carefully.

By taking these steps, you can help to control powdery mildew on your runner beans and keep your plants healthy. Subarunet Login Page
