They are not particularly prone to slug and snail damage however if the growth is still young and soft then this may be susceptible. The major pest to look out for is aphids in spring, which feed on the tender young shoots. Young honeysuckles can be killed by severe attacks if left unchecked. As the plant matures it will develop greater resistance to such attacks.
