I have called this a jonquil for 30 or 40 years but now I think my grandmother (RIP) was pointing to something else when I heard the name: can anyone tell me what it is please.

 

Some plants have bluish flowers, some red, some pink and some are pink/white.

You described it very well. Maybe it's Azalea. Because Azalea has some bluish flowers, some red, some pink, and some pink/white.
