Bay tree (2 replies)
Bay will tolerate a wide PH range so Ericacious compost should be fine, they are only considered hardy down to -5c & are also damaged by cold winds so a sheltered spot is required, maybe moving to an unheated greenhouse or shed if the weather gets too cold.
Thankyou so much Hemeroholic that is a wonderful help, I can now repot it and find it somewhere sheltered in the winter, my greenhouse is a tad small to put it in, I only have one of those lean to types which although it is glazed with glass is only about two and a half feet deep.

I have been fortunate enough to be given a bay tree in a large tub by a friend, it has been recently potted on but they did not put enough compost in the tub so when I have watered it there is now an inch gap between the root ball and the tub wall.
The only compost I have at the moment is ericacious will this be alright for a bay tree? Also what do I do with it in the winter, is it frost hardy or tender?
