pruning gaillardia and echinacea (No replies)

I'm confused as to the correct methods of pruning these two plants. My echinacea has almost stopped flowering but has healthy looking leaves at the base. Should I leave these or just chop the whole lot to ground level.

I have one gaillardia which is quite bushy and the other more upright. Advice please folks.
