I am not much of a gardener but I have a Scartho Gem clematis it has already had one flourish of flowers but it does then have a second flourish do I have to dehead the whole old bud and how do I do it to allow second growth how far down to I cut down to? Thanks

Locate the faded flower heads and trace the stem down to the nearest set of leaves or healthy buds. Using pruning shears or sharp pruning shears, make a clean cut just above the set of leaves or buds. Make sure you don't cut too close to the leaves as this can damage the stem.
