Hi Keyleigh Alice,

You could try ‘Avalon Pride’ on a dwarfing rootstock. It is resistant to peach leaf curl disease, so you don’t ever need to spray it with Bordeaux mixture!

‘Crimson Bonfire’ is nice too with its deep burgundy leaves, it makes a nice feature even when the tree is not in flower or fruit 🙂

What are the best apple tree varieties to grow in my garden?

With the purchase of my new house I inherited two apple trees in my garden. One doesn’t seem to be doing anything, and the other is so straggly and too close to the fence that I would like to remove it. I want to replace both of them with new apple trees, and wondered if anyone has any suggestions on the best varieties to grow in the garden?

Ideally I would like a cooking apple and dessert apple. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 🙂
