While asparagus plants do have shallow root systems, providing enough depth in the pot is still important for their proper growth and development. A 10-gallon pot is commonly recommended for growing asparagus because it offers sufficient depth for the roots to spread and establish. This depth allows for healthy growth and prevents overcrowding of the roots. While you may be able to get away with a slightly smaller pot, it's generally best to follow the recommendation and opt for a 10-gallon pot to ensure the best conditions for your asparagus plants.
